Thinking Big in Downtown Oakland

Lunchtime Forum

We're improving the SPUR event registration process.

Later this summer, we will launch a new ticketing system and we'll be asking you to register for each event you're planning to attend. This will help us keep you informed of any changes and better tailor our schedules and offerings.

Big changes are happening in downtown Oakland. Spurred by the aspirations of the Downtown Specific Plan and the numerous new towers sprouting out of the ground, planners, designers and advocates alike are thinking about Oakland’s next phase of investment in the public good. With an eye to both the renovations of established institutions at the edge of Lake Merritt and massive new construction projects still on the horizon, come discuss how pairing monumental projects with good urban design can define the public realm now and pay dividends far into the future.
