Tell me more about Jim Chappell.

The member lounge is named after Jim Chappell, former Executive Director of SPUR, to honor his lasting contributions to the city's urban development and planning. Chappell led transformative projects such as the redesign of Union Square and enhancements to Muni, while also advancing SPUR’s role in shaping San Francisco’s future through advocacy, urban solutions, and policy initiatives. By naming the lounge in his honor, SPUR celebrates his legacy as a leader who fostered collaboration and innovation to address the city’s greatest challenges.

Is there a charge to use the space?

Reservations are free for members.

What are the house rules?

Noise & device use: To preserve a quiet and productive space, please keep conversations at a considerate volume and use headphones with all personal devices, including phones, laptops, and tablets.
Respect shared spaces: Please avoid reclining across furniture, placing feet or luggage on chairs, and lying on the floor.
Personal belongings: SPUR is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Keep your belongings secure and mindful of shared space.
Cleanliness: Please help keep the lounge clean and inviting by disposing of trash, wiping down tables after use, and returning any moved furniture to its original place.
