First funded in the FY 2021-2022 state budget, the California Department of Housing and Community Development’s (HCD) new Housing Accountability Unit (HAU) has hit the ground running and is garnering lots of attention across the state. The central purpose and function of the HAU is to provide technical assistance and guidance to jurisdictions with regard to implementation and application of state housing laws and - when necessary - to engage in enforcement activities and take punitive actions against those towns, cities and counties that flout state statutes. Join us to hear the latest on HAU activities and engage in conversation with the lead staff members.
