At the southern end of Lake Merritt sit two of the city’s major cultural institutions: the beloved Oakland Museum of California and the long-shuttered Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center. For too long, these amenities have been poorly connected to both the lake and each other, but the planned renovations of each aim to resolve those issues and breathe new life into the area.
