San Francisco's Next Mayor

A Blueprint for Change

Policy Brief

By any measure, the previous decade has been a period of dramatic change and growth for San Francisco. But for many, this unprecedented prosperity has failed to address — and has even contributed to — the many challenges the city still faces. The severe housing shortage results directly in ever-rising rents, displacement and homelessness. There are more options for moving around the city, yet congestion is greater than ever. The city’s tax revenue collection is booming, but it faces yawning budget deficits and pension liabilities into the future.

On June 5, San Francisco voters will elect a new mayor — a person who will be eligible to lead the city for up to 10 years. We offer a platform of specific policy goals and practical solutions for the city for the years ahead.
