How to Build a Bike Lane brings together community members, city planners, and transportation advocates to explore two distinct approaches to creating safer streets for cyclists and pedestrians. Through case studies of 17th Street’s protected bike lane (a quick-build project in Potrero Hill) and Sanchez Street’s Slow Street (a community-centered traffic calming initiative in Noe Valley), attendees will learn practical strategies for advocating for infrastructure improvements, navigating city approval processes, and addressing community concerns. It’s designed for anyone interested in building safer, healthier streets.

Confirmed Speakers:
Robin Pam, San Francisco Director, Streets for All (Moderator)
Kate Blumberg, Community advocate, [Illinois/17th] Street
Brooke Ray Demko, Community advocate, Sanchez Street
