In our 2024 paper, Small and Mighty, SPUR identified seven interventions that would support the small business sector in San Francisco. They included expanding small business assistance programs, eliminating fees, improving permitting, expanding programs to lease vacant spaces, and providing financing to entrepreneurs. Since then, city officials, foundations, nonprofits, and community leaders have been working in partnership to tackle the regulatory and funding gaps we identified and create a business-friendly environment. Learn more about how these reforms and upcoming initiatives will accelerate economic development goals in the city's core.

Speakers:

  • Moderator: Sujata Srivastava / Policy Director, SPUR
  • Laurel Arvanitidis / Director of Business Development, SF Office of Economic and Workforce Development
