South San Francisco is known worldwide as the birthplace of the biotech industry — and at the heart of it all is Genentech. Join SPUR for an insider’s tour of Genentech’s headquarters campus and hear how the company is shaping its future within the broader fabric of the city and region.

The program will trace the history of Genentech and the rise of biotech in South San Francisco, then dive into how the company is addressing today’s most pressing urban challenges. We’ll explore campus research and development alongside policy priorities that resonate far beyond the company walls: advancing sustainability, reducing transportation impacts, and building stronger connections with the community.

The tour will also provide a look at Genentech’s long-term master plan and preview how the company is preparing to mark its 50th anniversary in 2026 — offering a unique window into how a major employer can help shape a more sustainable, connected, and equitable Bay Area.

Details on where to meet will be shared upon registration
