Oakland Unified School District’s massive new Central Kitchen is a major boon for tens of thousands of students. It enables the school district to move away from the standard heat-and-serve model to made-from-scratch meals grades above typical cafeteria fare in taste and quality and distribute them across the district. The kitchen, complete with classroom space and an on-site garden, helps to connect students to agriculture and broader educational goals like increased STEM achievement. Join us for a tour of this amazing new facility.
