Climate Change Impacts on Delta Metropolises

Lunchtime Forum

Climate change will affect cities everywhere, but no places will feel the effects as strongly as low-lying coastal cities, particularly those located in large river deltas and near tidal estuaries. The new book Adaptations of the Metropolitan Landscape in Delta Regions explores the urban form of three of these places: Southern China, the Netherlands and the San Francisco Bay Area. While all three regions differ greatly, each will be forced to adapt to climate change in ways that will greatly transform their urban form.
