California's Living New Deal Project

Lunchtime Forum

As the economic crisis deepens, Franklin Delano Roosevelt remains the gold standard of leadership — a style and approach that many hope and expect President-Elect Barack Obama to emulate. While fans and enemies of Roosevelt's New Deal argue about its efficacy in pulling the U.S. out of the Great Depression, few understand the magnitude and ubiquity of its achievements. Sponsored by the California Historical Society, the California Living New Deal Project is the first attempt to inventory, map and interpret how New Deal public works radically transformed one state and improved the lives of unwitting generations. Join us for this special forum with Dr. Gray Brechin, the founder and Project Scholar of the California Living New Deal Project.
