Ria Hutabarat Lo is a leader in transportation and urban sustainability with a focus in Silicon Valley. Ria is honored to serve as the Chief Transportation Official for the City of Palo Alto, where she oversees transportation, traffic, parking and travel demand management functions for the City. She previously served as the Transportation Manager for the City of Mountain View and, prior to that, as the Transportation Manager for the City of Sunnyvale. She has a PhD in City and Regional Planning and Master’s degrees in Transportation Engineering and City Planning from the University of California, Berkeley.

Ria is passionate about learning, collaborating, and advancing discourse on best practices in urban sustainability. She has been a speaker at various forums including the Association of Commuter Transportation West Coast Summit, Silicon Valley Bicycle Summit, and Housing Leadership Summit. She has also served as the Chair of the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) Capital Improvement Program Working Group and as a member of the VTA Technical Advisory Committee. She is grateful to have served on the SPUR City Advisory Board and previously the San José Policy Board since 2014.
