Gary Chao

Gary is the Head of Development Services at Apple, where he leads real estate due diligence, development planning, permitting strategy, and city and agency engagement across Apple’s corporate and retail portfolio. He brings deep public-sector experience from nearly 15 years with the City of Cupertino as Assistant Director of Community Development, as well as earlier planning roles with the City of San José and the Town of Los Gatos. Gary holds a degree in Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning from University of California, Davis and brings a strong, practical perspective at the intersection of development, policy, and public-private collaboration.
