Angus McCarthy, a native of County Galway, Ireland, immigrated to the United States in 1984 and made San Francisco his home. His early experiences as an immigrant shaped a lifelong commitment to public service and advocacy for immigrant communities. He has never forgotten the challenges of his early years in San Francisco or the obstacles faced by so many newcomers, and he later served as Chair of the San Francisco Immigrant Rights Commission.
A builder and real estate developer with decades of experience, Angus has served on numerous civic boards and commissions, including as President of the San Francisco Building Inspection Commission. Angus lives in San Francisco with his wife, Sheila, and their three children, and remains deeply committed to civic engagement, responsible development, and community leadership.
