This event is for SPUR business members. Please RSVP here to reserve your seat.

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 established Opportunity Zones to accelerate investment in specified United States census tracts through tax incentives. 30 of the 8,700 designated Opportunity Zones are in Oakland, which the city hopes to use to advance equitable economic development in previously ignored neighborhoods.

What plans do investors already have for Oakland and how can the city potentially benefit from the infusion of capital that could be coming? How should the city encourage and direct investments in a way that is most likely to stimulate long term equitable economic growth throughout the Opportunity Zones?

Join SPUR to learn more about how this recent tax law can be applied in Oakland and to see some of the prime sites that could be impacted by the new legislation.
