Local jurisdictions will face many questions as they seek to rebuild in the months and years following a disaster. How should local governments balance the need to rebuild quickly with the need to create a deliberative process? What regulatory tools can local governments make use of to help aid recovery? How should we be thinking about planning for growth in areas of liquefaction and sea level rise? And how do local governments leverage the state and federal resources available for recovery to finance the enormous costs of rebuilding? Join us for a panel discussion with disaster recovery expert Laurie Johnson, Charles Eadie of Hamilton Swift and Associates, Danielle Hutchings Mieler of the Association of Bay Area Governments and SPUR Deputy Director Sarah Karlinsky.
