You could get a warning before the next earthquake. Seismologists are testing an earthquake early warning system that can rapidly detect the beginnings of an earthquake and estimate the strength of shaking before it occurs. Richard Allen, director of UC Berkeley’s Seismological Laboratory, will provide an overview of the current test warning system and describe how institutions can become early adopters.
