San Francisco’s grocery stores come in many shapes and sizes. Despite their differences, they all must respond to regional and national distribution infrastructure, city land-use policy, labor costs, public health interest in food access, customer expectations of quality and price, and more. Sam Mogannam, owner of Bi-Rite Market, and Natalie Mattei, real estate manager at Safeway, will discuss how their respective businesses approach these issues and what they forecast for the future of grocery stores in San Francisco. This event is generously supported by The California Endowment.
