The recent joint study between Siemens and the San Francisco Department of the Environment (SFE), Reaching 80x50: Technology Pathways to a Sustainable Future, argues that the city will have to embrace both the glamorous (think: solar power and electric vehicles) and the boring — what Vox Magazine recently called “unsexy clean energy technologies” (think: electric heat pumps) — to reach its sustainability goals.
