Susan MacDonald will examine the role of contemporary architecture in the context of historic urban settings, focusing on the juxtaposition of old and new that gives cities their interesting corners, surprises, and texture. Examples will come from San Francisco and abroad. The lecture will complement our joint exhibition with the San Francisco Architectural Heritage, Adapt/Transform/Re-Use.
