Adaptive re-use of an industrial space mixed with chocolate — what could be better? The TCHO chocolate company’s recent renovation of Pier 17 as its global headquarters made it San Francisco’s only full-scale chocolate factory. Matt Heckert, TCHO’s senior engineer, will guide us through the factory-on-the-water, the pier’s recent revamp, and the pros and cons of an industrial operation on the waterfront. A TCHO tour docent will also lead us through a tasty overview of their manufacturing process, from bean to bar. The tour will last approximately 1.5 hours. $10. Limited to 25 people. SPUR members only. Register at spur.org/tickets.
