Can Geeks Save America’s Cities?
6:00 p.m. | Monday, April 1, 2013
We’re pleased to welcome Jennifer Pahlka, Executive Director of Code for America, for a special event with the SPUR Urban Leaders Forum. Code for America has been hailed as a “Peace Corps For Civic-Minded Geeks” by the Wall Street Journal. CfA fellows are developing the next generation of solutions for civic issues – from a tsunami warning system for Honolulu to a system that will help track and clear snow-piled sidewalks in Chicago.
Pahlka has been recognized as “One of the 20 Most Innovative People In Democracy in 2012” by TechCrunch and one of Huffington Post’s Game Changers for 2011. Her recent TED Talk has reached 1.5 million people. Don’t miss what is sure to be an exciting evening as we hear Jen’s thoughts about how we can harness San Francisco’s recent innovation boom for the long term good of the region.
The Urban Leaders Forum is for those individuals who provide core support for the work that SPUR does. Those who have made life estate gifts and significant donations to the SPUR Campaign for the Urban Center and SPUR Benefactors are also invited to join the Urban Leaders Forum.
