Reception with John Kriken

11:30 a.m. | Tuesday, October 4, 2011

Today, Asian cities are experiencing extraordinary population growth and working to improve air quality, access to clean water, adequacy of agricultural land, and overall economic strength in order to build livable and sustainable environments. There is much we can learn from their successes and failures.

Please join the Urban Leaders Forum for a private reception with John Kriken, urban design architect with SOM, at SPUR’s former 312 Sutter Street home. Building Asian Cities forum immediately to follow downstairs.

John Kriken, a Consulting Partner with SOM, has been with the company for over 40 years and founded their international urban design practice. He serves on UC Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design faculty as an adjunct professor and in 2010 completed a book titled, City Building: Nine Planning Principles for the Twenty First Century. Kriken has received over thirty national design awards. His work focuses on making livable and sustainable cities.
