Nick Josefowitz is currently the Chief Policy Officer at SPUR, a think tank focused on developing and advancing powerful policy ideas to help make our communities in the San Francisco Bay Area and across California more sustainable, equitable and prosperous. Nick manages SPUR's policy team, whose work covers urban planning, housing, transportation, climate and sustainability, climate and seismic resilience, economic justice and healthy food access. Previously, Nick founded and ran a solar energy development company and served as a BART director, where he led efforts to pass a $3.5 billion infrastructure bond to repair aging infrastructure and helped BART become the first transit agency in the country to be powered by 100% renewable power. He is currently a commissioner for the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), where he serves as Vice Chair. He has served on the boards of Capitol Corridor, the Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA) and the San Francisco Environment Commission. He lives in San Francisco with his wife and children.
