Melissa works with SPUR's communications team to advance SPUR's mission through its reports, policy briefs, and other publications. She has served as a writer and editor for two environmental economics policy think tanks, Resources for the Future and the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions (now the Nicholas Institute for Energy, Environment & Sustainability), and has helped many climate research organizations shape their communications to meet the needs of specific audiences. She received a B.A. from the College of William & Mary and an M.A. from the Catholic University of America, where she studied literature and literary theory. She is an East Coast transplant who fell in love with the dramatic landscapes of the west. She enjoys long-distance running and cycling with her husband, Michael, and acceding to the demands of their cat, Giselle.
