SPUR's transporation committee advocates for a wide range of transportation initiatives, including
Muni reform, Central Subway and BRT construction, the downtown
extension of Caltrain, Better Streets Plan, bicycling and pedestrian
infrastructure and more.
Topic for this meeting: Safe Routes to School
Safe Routes to School programs enable
community leaders, schools and parents to encourage more children to safely
walk and bicycle to school. In the process, programs are working to
reduce traffic congestion and improve health and the environment, making
communities more livable for everyone. This is an international
movement that has just recently come to San Francisco. Come hear how
schools and communities will be transformed by the new Safe Routes to School
program in San Francisco and potential for future funding on the
federal, state and regional levels. This is a multi-agency program, managed
through the Department of Public Health's Pedestrian Safety Project.
Speakers will include Ana Validzic, DPH.
