Laura Tam - Sustainable Development Policy Director
Laura Tam is SPUR's Sustainable Development Policy Director. Laura coordinates SPUR's work in five major policy areas: green buildings, water supply, wastewater, energy, and climate change.
Prior to joining SPUR, Laura worked for the U.S. EPA Office of Inspector General, conducting research and analysis that produced recommendations for EPA to better manage environmental problems. In this position, she worked on a variety of policy issues, including low impact development, electronic waste management, and nonpoint source pollution control. Laura has a Master's in Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Laura also has a background in nonprofit organizations and working with diverse stakeholders on resource management issues. She is the author of the book "At Home in the Northern Forest", and received her BA in Geography at Dartmouth College. Originally from Honolulu, she has lived in San Francisco for 4 years, and enjoys running and backpacking in her free time. Laura is delighted to be joining SPUR and expanding our program area in sustainability.
