Ground Floor: Main Exhibition Gallery and Conference Room

Located at 654 Mission Street between 3rd Street and new Montgomery, the new SPUR Urban Center is just steps away from Yerba Buena Gardens and the Museum of Modern Art. The inviting glass façade spanning the ground and second floors allows visitors visual access into the exhibition gallery from the street. The partially open ceiling and two-story windows lend an airy feel to the hall, bathing it in natural light. Sliding walls create flexible meeting spaces on the ground floor that will be available for user by SPUR committees and community groups. When necessary, security gates can be lowered to separate the Gallery for private events, yet allow for easy access to the upper floors by elevator and stairway.
Second Floor: Multi-Purpose Hall and Secondary Exhibit Space

The elevator and stairway provide access to the second floor and heart of the SPUR Urban Center—the state-of-the-art Multi-Purpose Hall. With a seating capacity of 125 people, a built-in sound system, and sizeable projection area, the Multi-Purpose Hall is perfect for large-scale events. The second floor reception area can be used as supplemental space for large exhibits carried over from the Main Exhibition Gallery, or for secondary exhibitions. The sliding walls can be drawn to divide the gallery and meeting hall for dual use. A modern kitchen creates an opportunity for SPUR to host catered events or rent the space to outside groups for private receptions.
Third Floor: SPUR Offices and Public Meeting Areas

The offices on the third floor will comfortably house SPUR staff and volunteers in a combination of open, flexible workstations and closed offices. Large work tables create space for impromptu meetings, and medium-sized rooms offer privacy for small committee, board, and staff gatherings. Quiet rooms offer a place for focused research, while the living room-style waiting area gives volunteers and members a comfortable place to relax, check e-mail, and participate in discussions. Dividers constructed of natural materials absorb sound and operable windows provide light and ventilation.
Penthouse: Urban Affairs Library and Outdoor Reception Area

The spacious library on the fourth floor will be available for use by the general public. The addition of an electronic, searchable database and more than double SPUR's current shelf capacity will allow for dramatic expansion of the library's collection of books, reports, maps, and journals. Just off the library is a 400-square foot outdoor deck. overlooking “Museum Row” on Mission Street, daytime users will find the sunny south-facing deck a relaxing and pleasant daytime escape. The deck can also be used for formal and informal evening receptions.
