The 2017 Silver SPUR Awards, held on November 29, recognized individuals whose achievements have made San Francisco and the Bay Area a better place to live and work.
For three decades, architect Boris Dramov and landscape architect Bonnie Fisher, husband-and-wife principals of ROMA Design Group in San Francisco, have championed an urban design consciousness that stresses the integration of architecture and landscape architecture, and of buildings and open space. Focusing on the transformation of the urban waterfront, the design of streets as public spaces and the enhancement of transit-oriented development, Dramov and Fisher have had an unparalleled impact on the revitalization of San Francisco’s waterfront, from Fisherman’s Wharf to China Basin. Their work extends beyond the Bay Area to cities around the globe, including Seattle, Vancouver, Auckland (New Zealand) and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington, DC.
