EVENT AND MARKETING INTERNSHIP

Hours per week: Flexible schedule, but 10-15 hours/week preferred
SUMMARY
Would you like to work in a creative, fun and fast paced environment? We are
looking for intern(s) and volunteers to help with preparations for the 2008
Bay Discovery Cruise taking place in early June. We are also looking for
volunteers to help at the event. This event will host 500+ civic leaders for
a reception at a Bayside location, followed by a cruise of the Bay. This
intern will assist with this event primarily, and secondarily with our
membership cultivation events. The volunteer will get valuable marketing and
events experience working with our dynamic and team-oriented SPUR staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Event coordination
- Assist staff with design, copy and printing of event print and
electronic materials (invitations, programs, web, emails, etc.)
- Correspond with events sponsors and attendees as primary contact on
SPUR events email box
- Assist with high-level volunteer event committee meetings and
communication
- Support staff in managing event timeline
- Work as volunteer liaison with other volunteers on event day
- Setup boards, registration, and decorations at event
Administrative support
- Assist with tracking sponsors and ticket sales in SPUR database
- Assist with creation of online ecommerce pages to facilitate
sponsorship and ticket purchases
- General administrative duties
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Microsoft Office - Excel, Word
- Adobe Acrobat
- Savvy with email communications
- ense of humor and willingness to be flexible and creative in the face of
a changing environment
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Office skills, including mail merge, MS Office, Database experience
- Ability to communicate in writing and over the phone
- Event setup requires ability to lift up to 20 lbs, bending, stooping
- Desktop publishing preferred: Adobe Creative Suite
