The annual Silver SPUR Awards Luncheon puts the theory of civics into practice. This year we will gather to honor four dynamic individuals who have been crucial to the vitality of our Bay Area community.
We hope that you will join us as a sponsor of this remarkable event, which is scheduled to take place on Monday, November 5th, at Moscone Center North. This event has evolved over 45 years, but its purpose remains the same: to recognize the contributions and dreams of remarkable San Franciscans.
We are proud to announce this year's honorees:
Paula R. Collins, CEO of WDG Ventures, Inc. is an outstanding leader in San Francisco's urban landscape who has devoted more than 25 years to developing real estate in the Bay Area. She exemplifies commitment to community in her work with organizations such as the Glide Economic Development Corporation, California Automobile Association, Special Olympics of Northern California and Presidio Bank.
Dr. Marcos Gutierrez brings over 40 years of media expertise to his work as a teacher and advocate for community based media. He has the distinction of being one of the first Latino reporters on KRON and received an Emmy nomination for his documentary on Carlos Santana. His extensive board service includes: Mission Cultural Center, Latino's In Communication, and the Latino Heritage Preservation Foundation.
Jon Osaki is the executive director of the Japanese Community Youth Council, a national model for youth organizations. Jon's commitment to San Francisco's Asian/Pacific Islander community and leadership with city-wide youth initiatives has earned him numerous accolades. He was an active member of the original Japantown Planning, Preservation and Development Taskforce, and is currently a Steering Committee member of the Japantown Better Neighborhood Planning process.
Walter H. Shorenstein is an exceptional leader in both the philanthropic and real estate communities of San Francisco and the nation. Founder of Shorenstein Company LLC, his honors include chairing the United Nations 50th Anniversary Celebration in San Francisco, induction into the Bay Area Hall of Fame and the Democratic National Committees Lifetime Achievement Award.
This not-to-be-missed civic celebration is a chance to visit with friends, elected leaders and associates while honoring great civic achievement and providing support for SPUR's work. We look forward to welcoming you on November 5th!
