HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Policy committees have always been a central part of SPUR's research and advocacy efforts. Run entirely by a group of dedicated SPUR members, each committee meets approximately once a month to advance our priorities for good planning and good government in the San Francisco Bay Area. Committees are open to all SPUR members. Contact the policy directors listed below for more information. See you at the next meeting!
Transportation Committee
Advocates for a wide range of transportation initiatives, including Muni reform, Central Subway and BRT construction, the downtown extension of Caltrain, Better Streets Plan, bicycling and pedestrian infrastructure and more. Contact Gabriel Metcalf, Interim SPUR Transportation Policy Director, at gmetcalf@spur.org.
Sustainable Development Committee
Addresses issues related to local and regional climate policy, green buildings, waste and water infrastructure, energy policy and more. Contact Laura Tam, SPUR Sustainable Development Policy Director, at ltam@spur.org.
Project Review Committee
Reviews proposals for individual buildings, and evaluates them based on their potential to enhance the vitality of city life and adopt principles of good urban design supported by SPUR. More information here. Contact Sarah Karlinsky, SPUR Deputy Director, at skarlinsky@spur.org.
Ballot Analysis Committee
Investigates all local and some state ballot measures in advance of every election, and prepares an analysis for the public. The goal is for citizens to get an understanding of the issues they will face in the voting booth. Contact Sarah Karlinsky, SPUR Deputy Director, at skarlinsky@spur.org.
