Known for its cozy quality of life, easy access to nature and dynamic cultural scene, Seattle is a city that has long prided itself on refusing to be “world class.” But faced with rapid growth and a diversifying population, Seattle is changing fast. The 2000’s brought booming biotech, software and gaming sectors and tens of thousands of new people living in downtown. Today, new light rail and streetcar systems are expanding and the city is poised to remove the Alaskan Way Viaduct and reclaim its downtown waterfront. Please join Marshall Foster, City Planning Director in Seattle’s Department of Planning and Development (DPD), for a lively discussion of the big issues facing the Emerald City.
