Housing Committee Meeting: Student Housing

Monday, February 28, 2011
12:30 p.m.

Student housing has been a long neglected part of the housing market in San Francisco. Come to a two-part panel discussion: hear about changes to the planning code intended to incentivize the production and design of student housing that sets the stage for third-party developers to create housing that educational institutions may not have the capacity to produce themselves. And then join us a month later for a design focused discussion with architects who do student housing work.

February 28th - Policy & Development: Join us for a panel discussion with the authors of the new legislation, representatives from two San Francisco educational institutions, and a private developer of student housing. With Tim Colen, Executive Director of the Housing Action Coalition; David Seward, CFO of UC Hastings; David Meckel Director of Research and Planning for CCA; and Patrick Kennedy of Panoramic Interests.

March 21st - Design: Join us for a panel discussion with architects who have designed recent student housing projects in the Bay Area, and hear their take on the recent legislation and design trends in student housing. Participating architects to be announced soon.

Co-sponsored by SPUR, the San Francisco AIA Housing Committee, and the San Francisco Housing Action Coalition.
