With all the talk of hackathons and open data, it’s easy to forget that much of this is made possible through investments in technology infrastructure made by many cities. Data networks and warehouses, enterprise applications, and even high-speed fiber provide the infrastructure to support the innovation that many cities seek. But what does this look like, and what are the possibilities? How do different cities approach this challenge differently? What are some of the important issues and constraints? Join San Francisco’s interim Chief Information Officer Jon Walton, Microsoft’s Chief Technology Officer for US State and Local Government Stuart McKee, and Cisco Services Business Development Manager for Public Sector Tom Johnston, for a discussion of fiber, data infrastructure and cloud computing.
