POSTPONED — What Does It Take to Run Oakland?

Lunchtime Forum

As the Golden State Warriors' championship parade has been scheduled to occur during the time that this program is scheduled, we anticipate difficulty in accessing the SPUR office. As a result, we've decided to postpone this event to a future date. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause, and encourage you to check back here in the near future for an update.

Throughout its history, Oakland has arguably had every structure and form of local government that exists in California. Does the city now have the right balance of power, or are there other cities that offer models for how Oakland’s government could be organized? Come hear from a former mayor and former City Council president on the structure of Oakland’s government and their thoughts on its future.

+ Patricia Kernighan / former Oakland City Council president
+ Mayor Jean Quan / former Oakland mayor
