How to Build a Better Block

Evening Forum

What makes for a good neighborhood? Do you need housing and ground floor retail? A good proportion between the buildings and the street? Cafe seating and street furniture? Or does it just take an engaged community that is willing to shape their street? For years, the Better Block Foundation has been educating, equipping and empowering communities and their leaders to reshape and reactivate their built environments to promote the growth of healthy and vibrant neighborhoods. Join its founder for a happy-hour reception and interactive presentation about what San Jose residents can do to improve their own neighborhoods. Generously sponsored by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
