"For a visitor sitting at the center of the SoundLab, it felt like entering a palpable sphere of sound...The room felt as if it had opened up, as if the ceiling had lifted."
- Andrew Blum, The New York Times
SoundLab, Arup’s state-of-the-art tool for acoustic design, allows the soundscape of a space to be listened to before it is built. Inside the bubble of speakers, listeners are immersed in a perfect emulation of real world environments, allowing designers to analyze how surroundings will sound from the outset of the design process. Instrumental in the building of world-class spaces, the SoundLab has been used in hundreds of projects around the world, from the Yale University Health Center to the Oslo Opera House.
Join SPUR and Joshua Cushner, leader of the Acoustics, Theatre & Audiovisual team at Arup’s San Francisco office, for a reception and an unforgettable acoustic experience as we delve deep into the role that sound plays in our daily lives.
