This event will take place in San Jose.

Steve Jobs combined a ruthless pursuit of excellence with an understanding of what people love about product design. His successful products were ones that elicited an emotional connection. But while his designs are enduringly clever and showed emotional intelligence, the architecture of the region does little to inspire the next design revolution. This panel discussion, moderated by architecture critic Alan Hess, and featuring 1stACT Silicon Valley Managing Director and CEO Connie Martinez, John Marx of Form4 Architecture, John Michael Sobrato of the Sobrato Organization, Steve Weindel, design principal with Gensler, and architect and author Pierluigi Serraino, will celebrate the technological advances of the region while asking why Silicon Valley hides its talent behind a slew of look-alike, nondescript office buildings.

Co-presented with AIA Silicon Valley and the San Jose Museum of Art and supported by the City of San Jose.

AICP CM credits pending.
