San Francisco

Tour of the J. David Gladstone Institutes

9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
| Tuesday, June 5, 2012

SPUR’s Urban Leaders Forum members joined us in an exclusive presentation by Gladstone President, Dr. Sandy Williams and two of Gladstone’s senior scientists.  Followed by a tour of the state-of-the-art institute and demonstrations in its stem cell core laboratory. The trio of institutes that make up UCSF’s Gladstone center work to accelerate scientific discovery and medical innovation for the benefit of patients suffering from cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative disease and viral infections. For the past 32 years, they have been working with focus, purpose and urgency to advance the fundamental scientific understanding of these diseases by building multidisciplinary teams to uncover the root cause of a disease process. As early key tenants of Mission Bay, the Gladstone Institutes have spurred investment in and continued growth of the biotech cluster that now serves as a core part of the San Francisco and Bay Area economic landscape.

The Urban Leaders Forum is for those individuals who provide core support for the work that SPUR does. Those who have made life estate gifts and significant donations to the SPUR Campaign for the Urban Center and SPUR Benefactors are also invited to join the Urban Leaders Forum.
