Getting commuters out of cars

Lunchtime Forum

SPUR has long argued for greater attention to the importance of the location of work in the smart-growth agenda. With nearly seven in ten commuters still driving alone to work in the Bay Area, getting more jobs near transit and more commuters out of their cars remain important goals. A current SPUR policy initiative explores what it would take to get half of commuters to work without driving alone. With Egon Terplan from SPUR, Libby Seifel from Seifel Consulting, Mark Shorett from Arup, Jed Kolko from Trulia, and Kevin Mathy from Google. Co-sponsored by the Northern Section of the APA California Chapter. AICP CM credits pending.
